Anthologies and monographs are collected in our publishing house’s flagship series, which addresses current topics from the field of humanities, in particular based on interdisciplinary questions. Founded in 1988 by the distinguished Germanist Gerhard Neumann (1934–2017), this highly respected series has become irreplaceable in literature studies and cultural studies research.

The research series discusses perspectives and challenges of the political in contemporary societies. It presents contributions from the various fields of Political Theory, Political Philosophy, Social Philosophy, Sociology and Cultural Sciences. Without being determined to a certain school of thought, the volumes explore the different paths of anti-essentialist, pluralist and radical democratic attempts of thinking the political which had been established in theoretical debates since the early 1980ies mainly in France, Italy, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The range of topics comprises deconstructive, genealogical and agonistic approaches, discourse and hegemony theories as well as Gouvernementality, Gender and Postcolonial Studies. The research series initiates a constructive dispute on the discourses on the political and is at the same time open for future trends and further developments of these debates.

Scientifically profound and written in understandable language, the volumes of this series introduce the central research areas, theories and methods used in political science and convey the knowledge that is fundamental for prospective academics. The consistent problem orientation and the didactic preparation of the individual chapters facilitate access to the series’s specialist content. Law and religions shape societies in many respects. The series Recht und Religionen is dedicated to the complex and ambivalent relationship between law and religious communities and denominations in the past, present and future. In order to do justice to this diversity of topics, the series combines expert contributions by renowned authors written from an inter- or transdisciplinary perspective. All disciplines with a close or broad connection to the topic are addressed: in addition to the relevant disciplines of law, theology, religious studies and philosophy, these include sociology, cultural studies, history, political science, education and art studies. Only in this way can the Recht und Religionen series live up to its goal and high standard of documenting the research fields of law and religions from multiple perspectives and in an up-to-date manner, as well as presenting new perspectives and research approaches to a broad audience.

In the economy and society, exactly how work and organisation are conducted is extremely important. The changes in gender relations are closely related to this. Gender is a key aspect of diversity. However, age, disability, ethnic or social background, sexual orientation, religion and world view, to mention only a few of the relevant aspects in this respect, can also contribute to discrimination and disparagement in the workplace. This series aims to provide a forum for theoretical and empirical works on the subject of work, organisation and diversity, and to allow findings from current research projects, conferences and academic theses from the fields of sociology, psychology, economics and their related disciplines to be discussed.
