Summary
Subject of the work is the solution-oriented analysis of the need for reform of the WTO in the context of its DSM, the judicial pillar of the WTO. Following the WTO DSM, the insufficiency of the legislative pillar of the WTO and the correlative influence of the two pillars are examined. In addition to a need for isolated reform within the pillars, the insights gained in this paper illustrate the necessity for a new understanding of existing concepts in the WTO, such as the WTO as a "member-driven organization", as well as the demand for an overarching reform. On this basis, existing reform proposals are legally and politically reassessed and own reform proposals are developed and drafted de lege ferenda.
