Summary

Since June 2021, the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) has been the central authority prosecuting crimes against the EU’s financial interests. The second edition of this commentary on the EPPO Regulation compiles recent developments and key Court of Justice rulings:

  • the EPPO Rules of Procedure
  • focal judgments, e.g. C-281/22 (cross-border investigative measures) or C-292/23 (judicial protection against investigative measures)
  • further College decisions on internal procedures and guidelines. It also outlines options to extend the EPPO’s mandate and to improve the legal framework. Country reports from participating Member States show how the EPPO fits into national criminal justice systems. For practitioners and scholars.
