Summary

The author examines the value-based approach to EU trade policy using the example of human rights and environmental obligations in EU trade agreements. In addition to a comprehensive overview of the provisions on sustainability and human rights, the study offers an innovative method to evaluate the implementation of international legal obligations based on assessment criteria of relevant international organizations and framework agreements. The practical implementation of relevant provisions by Colombia and Peru in selected legal areas of the EU-Andean trade agreement serves as a case study.
