The Journal for Intercultural German Studies collects current contributions from literatary studies, cultural studies, and linguistics that focus on the central concept of interculturality. In light of migratory movements and globalisation, areas of transit are currently particularly topical. With the aid of paridigmatic examples from literary and non-literary texts, the contributions in this themed issue of the Journal for Intercultural German Studies illuminate the breadth of the spectrum of different areas of transit: from ships, trains, and revues on political border regions and virtual spaces to the language of poetry or the discourse of translation. From a range of theoretical perspectives, the articles in this issue (which are primarily oriented towards cultural and literary studies, but also include work in translation studies) show how a aesthetic of interculturalism is constituted in the texts examined.
