Zusammenfassung

Entlang der Wanderrouten der meisten Thunfischarten sind viele Länder an dieser, sowohl aus wirtschaftlicher, als auch aus ökologischer Sicht wichtigen natürlichen Ressource interessiert. Eine nachhaltige Bewirtschaftung kann daher nur durch internationale Kooperation gelingen.

Dieses Buch beschäftigt sich mit dem völkerrechtlichen Rahmen für das Management der Fischereien, die die verschiedenen Thunfischarten befischen. Der Schwerpunkt liegt auf der Analyse der Regional Fisheries Management Organizations (RFMOs) und insbesondere der Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Organization (WCPFC).

Das Buch hat das Ziel, ein besseres Verständnis für den bestehenden völkerrechtlichen Rahmen zu vermitteln und zu zeigen, ob die RFMOs und insbesondere die WCPFC langfristig in der Lage sind, eine nachhaltige Bewirtschaftung zu gewährleisten.
