Dieser Band bietet einen zugänglichen Überblick über die aktuelle Rechtslage der Versammlungsfreiheit in ausgewählten Mitgliedstaaten der Venedigkommission: Großbritannien, Frankreich, die USA, Belgien, Deutschland, die Türkei, Russland, die Ukraine, Polen, Ungarn und Tunesien. Er dient als Nachschlagewerk für Wissenschaftler und Praktiker, die spezifische Informationen zur Rechtslage, Beschränkungen, oder Anwendungen der Versammlungsfreiheit in einem der ausgewählten Länder suchen. Gleichfalls enthalten sind Kapitel zu aktuellen Fragen wie dem Einsatz von Flashmobs. Der Vergleich wird nicht nur durch die identische Struktur der einzelnen Länderstudien ermöglicht, sondern auch durch das abschließende Kapitel, in dem alle untersuchten Länder Punkt für Punkt verglichen werden. Neben Informationen zu Einzelheiten des Versammlungsrechts enthalten die Kapitel Informationen über aktuelle Ereignisse und Debatten im Recht der Versammlungsfreiheit wie etwa die Neuerungen im tunesischen, türkischen oder ukrainischen Versammlungsrecht nach dem Arabischen Frühling, der Verfassungsänderung in der Ukraine und den Gezi-Park-Protesten.
