Zusammenfassung

Digitalisierung und wirtschaftlicher Druck stellen den Journalismus vor grundlegende Herausforderungen. Vor diesem Hintergrund liefert Michael Sengls Dissertation erstmals einen fundierten Einblick in die Arbeitsbedingungen deutscher Journalistinnen und Journalisten. Basierend auf Interviews mit Führungskräften aus 19 Redaktionen und einer Befragung von 232 Journalistinnen und Journalisten verknüpft der Autor redaktionelle Konvergenz und Arbeitsbedingungen. Dabei zeigt er, wie sich Strukturen, Rollen und Arbeitsprozesse wandeln und welche Auswirkungen dies auf die Leitungsfähigkeit von Redaktionen hat: Für den Autor ist eine kritische Auseinandersetzung mit den Arbeitsbedingungen von Journalistinnen und Journalisten ein zentraler Faktor für Qualität und Erfolg im Journalismus.
