Summary

Political scandals and the dynamics of outrage they trigger shape our perception of political decisions and institutions in a special way. Political scandals unleash quite considerable de facto political power without being contained in constitutionally formalised structures. What power resources lie in political scandals? And in what way is this power legitimised and disciplined? This book addresses these questions from the perspectives of political science, law, history, communication studies and sociology, seeking common answers through interdisciplinary dialogue.
