Summary

Der Beitritt zur Welthandelsorganisation (WTO) stellt Entwicklungsländer vor enorme Herausforderungen. Im vorliegenden Band werden diese Probleme aus Sicht Äthiopiens, das seit 2003 über seinen Beitritt zur WTO verhandelt, untersucht. Einen Schwerpunkt bilden die Auswirkungen des WTO-Beitritts auf die Landwirtschaft. Dazu werden sowohl Fragen des Marktzugangs nach dem WTO-Landwirtschaftsabkommen als auch der Standardsetzung thematisiert. Zudem werden Probleme des Schutzes geistiger Eigentumsrechte und die Auswirkungen des TRIPS-Abkommens sowie Fragen der Finanzmarktregulierung und des Verhältnisses von WTO-Beitritt zu regionalen Integrationsbemühungen in Afrika erörtert. Die in diesem Buch behandelten Themen betreffen Grundsatzfragen des Verhältnisses von WTO und Entwicklungsländern.
