Summary
The future of ethical and religious education in public schools has been the subject of controversial debate for some time. With the Werte – Interkulturelles Lernen – Religionen (W-I-R) teaching project, the Archdiocese of Vienna broke new ground at the interface between religion and ethics lessons. The aim was to design a teaching program for all pupils that offers space for learning processes that provide orientation in a pluralistic society. This volume describes the genesis, implementation and objectives of W-I-R on the basis of an accompanying evaluation study. It classifies these lessons didactically and pedagogically and is intended as a practice-oriented guide for the introduction and further development of this teaching model.
