Summary

Die Mitglieder des Europäischen Parlaments werden von Wählern und Medien oft ignoriert. Die Arbeit der Abgeordneten wird als fern vom Bürger wahrgenommen, als ein weiterer intransparenter Teil der Europäischen Union. Ebenso fern scheint die nationale Ebene, welche die Europaabgeordneten für ihre Arbeit und weitere politische Karriere allerdings im Blick behalten müssen. Mit Onlinekommunikation auf persönlichen Webseiten kann diesen Problematiken begegnet werden, denn so ist eine ausführliche Darstellung der eigenen Arbeit möglich.

Die Studie untersucht die Webseiten von Europaabgeordneten mit einer quantitativen Inhaltsanalyse, wobei die Themenfelder Information, Transparenz und Repräsentation im Fokus stehen.

Dabei wird der Vergleich mit nationalen Abgeordneten angesetzt. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass die Unterschiede zwischen den politischen Ebenen sowie nationale und ideologische Faktoren Einfluss darauf haben, wie sich Parlamentarier online präsentieren.
