Περιμένοντας τους Bαρβάρους. Law in a Time of Constitutional Crisis ist keine typische Festschrift, die dem Adressaten zu einem akademischen Jubiläum übergeben wird. Die Studien, die Professor Mirosław Wyrzykowski gewidmet sind, behandeln die dringendsten Probleme des modernen Konstitutionalismus. Die Hauptthemen sind die Fragen, die Wyrzykowski sehr am Herzen liegen: Rechtsstaatlichkeit, Menschenrechte, die verschlungenen Pfade des europäischen Konstitutionalismus und nicht zuletzt die Fragen, die alle diese Themen verbinden: Nämlich die richterliche Unabhängigkeit und die Rolle der Gerichte bei der Wahrung der Rechtsstaatlichkeit.
