Zusammenfassung
Die Jahre 2019 und 2020 boten die Gelegenheit, vier Jubiläen zu begehen: Am 4. November 2020 war es 70 Jahre her, dass die EMRK unterzeichnet wurde. Zehn Jahre später nahm der EGMR seine Arbeit auf. Der Europarat feierte am 5. Mai 2019 sein 70-jähriges Bestehen. Schließlich konnte die 1990 gegründete Europäische Kommission für Demokratie durch Recht (Venedig-Kommission) ihren 30. Geburtstag feiern. Diese Jubiläen boten Anlass, zu untersuchen, wie diese Institutionen dazu beigetragen haben, Menschenrechte und Rechtsstaatlichkeit in Europa zu einer gemeinsamen Angelegenheit zu machen, und wie es um sie heute bestellt ist. Der vorliegende Band enthält die Beiträge des Walter-Hallstein-Symposiums vom 5. und 6. März 2020 zu diesem Thema.
