Zusammenfassung
Mit diesem Buch werden neue Wege beschritten, denn es liefert ein „Large-N“-Design zur Beschreibung und Erklärung des Phänomens der differenzierten Integration auf Ebene der Mitgliedstaaten der Europäischen Union. Es werden Hypothesen aus den bedeutendsten Integrationstheorien – Intergouvernementalismus, Supranationalismus und Konstruktivismus – abgeleitet und einem systematischen Hypothesentest auf Basis der neuen EUDIFF-Datensätze und von Paneldatenanalysen ausgesetzt.
Das Buch untersucht zudem das logische Verhältnis zwischen den drei Theorien sowie deren relative Erklärungskraft und empirische Bestätigung. Diesem Zweck dient auch ein empirischer Vergleich der Theorien und ihrer jeweiligen Annahmen, Hypothesen, Indikatoren und empirischen Modelle.
Dr. Thomas Duttle arbeitet als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter und Koordinator im Fachbereich Politik- und Verwaltungswissenschaft der Universität Konstanz. Seine Forschungsinteressen beinhalten das politische System der EU, die europäische Integration und die vergleichende Politikfeldanalyse.
