Dieser Sonderband ist das Ergebnis einer Zusammenarbeit zwischen Forschenden und Praktiker:innen, die vom Centre for European Volunteering (CEV) initiiert und vom EU-Fonds für Bürger, Gleichstellung, Rechte und Werte kofinanziert wurde. Der Band gibt einen Überblick über die Freiwilligenforschung in Europa anhand von Kernthemen wie Motivation, Infrastruktur, Recht, Wirkungsmessung und Politik. Jeder Beitrag behandelt Theorien, verschiedene Länderperspektiven, europäische Trends und eine Synthese, wobei nationale Besonderheiten mit gemeinsamen Entwicklungen für die zukünftige Praxis, Forschung und Politik verknüpft werden.
