Zusammenfassung

Die sozioökonomischen und politischen Merkmale der Länder des östlichen und südlichen Afrikas (ESA) erfordern einen anderen Ansatz in der Wettbewerbspolitik. Die Wettbewerbspolitik im ESA-Kontext lenkt den Blick auf drei große Themen: Entwicklung, kleine Marktwirtschaften und regionale Integration. Dies geschieht vor dem Hintergrund anderer sozioökonomischer und politischer Faktoren, die zur Einführung der Wettbewerbspolitik in den ESA-Staaten geführt haben. Durch eine vergleichende Bewertung der Fusionskontrolle in der Europäischen Union, den Vereinigten Staaten, Südafrika, dem Vereinigten Königreich und den ESA soll in diesem Buch aufgezeigt werden, ob der Ansatz der Fusionskontrolle in den ESA optimal ist oder nicht und inwieweit er optimiert werden kann.
