Das Buch zeigt, wie die Fusionsenergie als nahezu unerschöpfliche und klimafreundliche Energiequelle einen entscheidenden Beitrag zur Bewältigung der Klimakrise leisten könnte – zugleich aber auch sicherheitspolitische Risiken birgt. Leser:innen gewinnen Einblicke in die rechtlichen Rahmenbedingungen des Völkerrechts, insbesondere in den Nichtverbreitungsvertrag (NPT) und die Rolle der Internationalen Atomenergie-Organisation (IAEA). Dargestellt werden bestehende Lücken im Atomwaffenregime im Hinblick auf die Fusion, mögliche Wege zu ihrer Schließung sowie die Idee eines eigenständigen Fusionsvertrags.
