Zusammenfassung

Der Verband Südostasiatischer Nationen (Association of Southeast Asian Nations, ASEAN) wurde 1967 gegründet mit den Zielen Zusammenarbeit, Aufschwung und politische Stabilität.

Der Band liefert einen umfassenden Überblick über die ASEAN Wirtschaftsgemeinschaft, die auf wirtschaftliche Integration und Zusammenarbeit in der Region ausgerichtet ist.

Neben einer fundierten Analyse der Entstehungsgeschichte, der einzelnen Abkommen, der Entscheidungsmechanismen, des erreichten ökonomischen Integrationsstandes in der südostasiatischen Region und der Perspektiven für die weitere wirtschaftliche Integration bietet das Handbuch eine Diskussion der internationalen Einbindung der ASEAN. Dabei wird besonderes Augenmerk auf die Wirtschaftsbeziehungen mit den USA, der EU, China und anderen Mächten gelegt und der internationale Kontext beleuchtet.
