Summary

A network of conservative actors at the United Nations (UN) is attempting to restrict human rights related to sexuality and reproduction. Understanding their strategies is crucial to countering their efforts. The author examines how the Center for Family and Human Rights and Family Watch International frame their positions on sexual and reproductive health and rights. A comparative qualitative content analysis of policy papers as well as statements during the 55th UN Commission on Population and Development shows how these groups portray sexual and reproductive health and rights as a threat and construct an antagonistic discourse.
