Summary
Climate change is one of the greatest challenges of the 21st century. Lisa Franke analyses the European Union's climate and energy policy and its leading role in global climate governance. She draws on theoretical approaches to global climate governance (GCG) and multi-level governance (MLG) and applies a typology of four leadership types to qualitatively analyse key EU documents. On this basis, the author elaborates on the EU's leadership types within its climate and energy policy and shows how the EU shapes its role in global climate governance. Readers thus gain in-depth insights into the EU's potential to act as an international leader in climate policy.
