Summary

This book offers valuable insights into the government's narrative on labour and migration in Germany. Using Marxist-materialist theory and qualitative discourse analysis, the author demonstrates the interlinking of the logic of economic exploitation, humanitarian values, and political power interests. The book reveals that the federal government is presenting migration as a solution to the shortage of skilled labour and a means of securing prosperity — at the expense of migrants' social rights. This study is intended for anyone who wishes to understand and scrutinise migration policy debates beyond buzzwords.
