The Zeitschrift für Medienwissenschaft stands for media studies oriented towards cultural studies, which takes up and traverses studies on individual media in order to question political forces and epistemic constellations. It connects to international research as well as to different disciplines and cimbines different writing conventions and text formats, images and conversations to give space to the diversity of writing, reflection and experimentation. As far as we are concerned: For the tenth anniversary of the ZfM, the editorial staff is designing a special issue and asking about current conditions and well-established starting points for research, teaching and publishing at universities and outside academia. Discussions with collectives and designers follow reflections on university culture then and now. The issue will examine how to work with various research formats and how to make them available at local and global-capitalized levels. It also deals with undercurrents and sympathetic moments of academia: power and desire, the ambivalence of safe spaces and the handling of taboo topics in science.
