Summary

Den Ansätzen zum Innovationssystem folgend stellen Innovationen selten das Ergebnis isolierter unternehmensinterner Prozesse dar. Sie werden vielmehr geprägt durch die Interaktion der Unternehmen mit externen Akteuren und Institutionen. Doch wie wirkt sich dies auf die technologische Ausrichtung der Unternehmen aus? Welchen Einfluss hat die technologische, sektorale und nationale Umgebung eines Unternehmens auf die Entwicklung des Technologieprofils?

Um diese Frage zu beantworten, löst sich die Autorin von der isolierten Betrachtung einzelner Einflussfaktoren. Sie wählt dazu einen neuartigen, multi-dimensionalen Ansatz, welcher explizit die Interaktion verschiedener Betrachtungsperspektiven berücksichtigt. Am Beispiel der forschungs- und entwicklungsintensiven Life Sciences-Industrie wird eine empirische Überprüfung des theoretischen Ansatzes vorgenommen. Detaillierte Patentanalysen zeigen im Ergebnis anschaulich den Einfluss der verschiedenen Betrachtungsperspektiven sowie deren Interaktion.
