Summary

The population as a whole still lacks the necessary first aid skills. Frauke Carola Harm analyses the course format of the Bundesarbeitsgemeinschaft Erste Hilfe (BAGEH) from an educational and didactic point of view and identifies a number of discrepancies between the factors that are decisive for successful learning and the methodological and didactic structure of the 'First Aid Training' course format. Can the defined teaching and learning objectives actually be achieved within the planned time frame? The author makes a valuable contribution to the current discourse and shows that pedagogy, whose classical topics are teaching, learning, methodology and didactics, can contribute relevant impulses.
