Summary

Foster care is a challenging area of child and youth welfare, where changes in children's behaviour due to visitation are often not sufficiently taken into account. There is also a lack of evaluation of these contacts and a lack of critical cooperation between the care system and the families of origin. Based on interviews with foster parents and a thorough review of the literature, Maximilian Köppen examines the issue of visitation in the area of conflict between the best interests of the child and parental rights. The author emphasises the central importance of a holistic view of individual case constellations for child welfare-oriented decision-making and provides relevant impulses for practice.
