The discussion on impact measurement is highly topical, politically desired and supported by social welfare organisations. One aim of impact monitoring is to legitimise social work. However, it cannot be implemented without reflection, as the methods are sometimes diametrically opposed to the maxims of social pedagogy. The author examines the use of criteria that meet the need for impact measurement and at the same time take into account the principles of social work (e.g. openness to results). In order to assess the usefulness of implementing impact measurement in practice, the purpose, methods and consequences are examined through a literature review.
