Summary

Governance-Forschung ist für sich genommen keine klar abgesteckte Teildisziplin der Sozialwissenschaften. Sie reflektiert vielmehr sozialwissenschaftliche Suchprozesse um die Transformation der Politik unter Bedingungen der Globalisierung, Regionalisierung, Sektoralisierung und Politikverflechtung zu rekonstruieren, theoretisch einzuordnen und politische Lösungsvorschläge für neue Problemlagen zu entwickeln. Das Konzept der Zivilgesellschaft hat in den vergangenen Jahren verstärkt Eingang vor allem in die europäische Governance-Forschung gefunden.

Dieser Band führt theoretische und empirische Arbeiten zum Regieren im europäischen Mehrebenensystem zusammen und leistet einen Beitrag zum besseren Verständnis zivilgesellschaftlicher Entwicklungslinien in Europa. Zwei zentrale Fragen stehen im Mittelpunkt:

o Welchen Mehrwert leisten zivilgesellschaftliche Akteure in einzelnen Politikfeldern vor dem Hintergrund des europäischen Demokratiedefizits?

o Welche Möglichkeiten und Risiken ergeben sich auf Organisationsebene durch die Einbindung von zivilgesellschaftlichen Akteuren in europäische Governance-Arrangements?
