Summary
Mit der Globalisierung der Märkte und die damit verbundenen gesellschaftlicher Herausforderungen ist zum Ende des 20. Jahrhunderts auch die Rede von „globaler Gesundheit“. Was damit gemeint ist, bleibt allerdings schwammig. Fest steht jedoch, dass sich die Europäische Union (EU) als Akteur in dieser „Global Health Governance“ betrachtet und entsprechende Strategien entwickelt. Nicht zuletzt aufgrund der Debatte um ein mögliches demokratisches Defizit ist die EU bestrebt, die organisierte Zivilgesellschaft in dieses Politikfeld einzubinden. Die Autorin analysiert diese Zielsetzung kritisch: Ermöglicht eine Erhebung von Gesundheit auf Ebene der Außenpolitik überhaupt eine Einbindung des Dritten Sektors?
