Summary
[Happiness and God? On the Hermeneutics of The Good Life] The question of happiness connects people across distant times and vast spaces. It appears to be part of human nature to want to lead a happy life. From ancient virtue ethics to the modern pursuit of happiness and late-modern contemporary concepts, theology and philosophy continuously deal with corresponding fundamental questions: What is happiness? What makes life good? Does happiness lie within me or outside of myself? Is there also happiness in misfortune? If happiness comes from God, how is he with those who are unhappy? In an interdisciplinary approach to these fundamental questions about the hermeneutics of a good life, this volume documents the lectures of the 26th annual conference of the Rudolf-Bultmann-Society for Hermeneutical Theology e. V. by T. Erne, H.-P. Großhans, A. F. Koch, M. Köhlmoos, B. Müller and N. Neumann, extended by workshop reports by J. Baumann, K. Gessner, L. Hille, and B. König.
