Zusammenfassung

Der enneadische Traktat IV 7 (2) ist der erste Versuch Plotins, systematisch über das Problem der Unsterblichkeit der Seele nachzudenken. Es handelt sich um einen komplexen Text, in dem der Darlegung der plotinschen Lehre ein langer doxographischer Exkurs vorausgeht, der der Widerlegung der Ideen einiger antiker philosophischer Schulen (Aristoteles, Epikur, Stoiker, Pythagoräer) gewidmet ist. Die Probleme, die der Traktat aufwirft, werden in diesem Band aus einer interdisziplinären Perspektive behandelt: Historiker des antiken Denkens und des Neuplatonismus, Religionshistoriker, Historiker der spätantiken Kultur und klassische Philologen treffen sich auf diesen Seiten, um einen der anregendsten Texte, die uns Plotin hinterlassen hat, aus ganz unterschiedlichen Blickwinkeln zu betrachten.
