Zusammenfassung
Anhand einer komparativen Analyse von Serbien und Kroatien untersucht dieses Buch die Rolle von Narrativen im Integrationsprozess von EU-Beitrittskandidaten. Für die Analyse der Struktur und der politischen Verwendung von Narrativen entwickelt dieses Buch ein innovatives theoretisches Modell, welches die Konzepte von Narrativen und Topoi kombiniert und eine tiefergehende und detailliertere Analyse ermöglicht. Darüber hinaus ist das Modell auch auf andere Fragestellungen übertragbar. Narrative können dazu benutzt werden, neue politische Optionen zu schaffen, oder bis dato bestehende Optionen unmöglich werden zu lassen.
Der empirische Teil der Untersuchung basiert hauptsächlich auf einer Diskursanalyse politischer Dokumente, wie Parlamentsdebatten über den EU-Integrationsprozess, politischen Reden sowie persönlichen Interviews mit Experten. Die Autorin hat in Politikwissenschaft an der BIGSSS promoviert und arbeitet mittlerweile als Projektleiterin für das Steinbeis-Europa-Zentrum in Karlsruhe.
