Zusammenfassung

Die Länder Süd-, Südost- und Ostasien suchen nach neuen Formen der Kooperation miteinander: politisch, kulturell, wirtschaftlich und energiepolitisch. Sie haben vor allem in den letzten 30 Jahren einen enormen Wandel erfahren und sind heute dabei, Nordamerika und Westeuropa als globale Führungsregionen abzulösen. Auf dem Weg positionieren sie sich neu und verweigern sich bisher einer Einbeziehung in eine erneute Aufteilung der Welt in Machtblöcke. Sie sind dagegen bestrebt, Kooperation auf neue, multilaterale Grundlagen zu stellen. Der Band verdeutlicht dies mit einem Fokus auf Vietnam, aber auch im Blick auf andere Länder in der faszinierenden Weltregion von Indien über Indonesien bis nach Japan.
