Zusammenfassung

Dieser Band behandelt die vielfältigen Probleme, die mit dem geopolitischen Konzept der Region Indopazifik verbunden sind. Der erste Teil erörtert zentrale theoretische Ansätze, der zweite Teil befasst sich mit dem Engagement der Großmächte innerhalb und außerhalb der Region (USA, China, EU, Russland, Indien), und der dritte Teil präsentiert die Perspektive derjenigen Länder, die im engeren geografischen Sinne dem Indopazifik zugeordnet werden können. Zusammenfassend lässt sich sagen, dass die Ära der bipolaren oder gar unipolaren Weltordnung von 1945 bis 2001 endgültig der Vergangenheit angehört. Das internationale System passt sich einer neuen Komplexität an, insbesondere in der wohl wichtigsten Region der heutigen Welt, dem Indopazifik. Es ist damit das erste Werk seiner Art, das sich mit der Indopazifik-Frage auf diesen drei Ebenen auseinandersetzt.
