Anthologies and monographs characterised by their interdisciplinary nature and which address current subjects of interest in the field of consumer sciences are published in this series. The series is dedicated to interdisciplinary consumer research and examines the whole spectrum of issues related to consumption. It welcomes contributions from the entire gamut of academic disciplines and will appeal to all those interested in dealing with challenges relevant to consumers on an in-depth academic level. The series aims to strengthen cooperation between the different academic disciplines and to promote the transfer between academia and consumer politics and/or consumer protection agencies.

This series addresses the relationship between culture and society throughout the course of history. It deals with the significance of culture for the implementation of and changes to social orders. Dissertations, postdoctoral theses, anthologies, monographs and Festschriften are published in the series. It not only welcomes contributions from the fields of culture and history, but also those from related disciplines, all of which can be written in either German or English.

This series of publications is dedicated to the processes of change and challenges arising from the digitisation of the economy and society. It focuses primarily on the question of how the fundamental rights to privacy and informational self-determination can be guaranteed and provides a forum for interdisciplinary academic exchange. It presents theoretical, empirical, basic and application-oriented work and contributes to the foundation and objectification of the public discourse on these topics. In particular, results from the ‘Forum Privatheit’, which is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, appear in the series.

Due to rapid changes and unexpected developments, academic studies of international politics are becoming increasingly complex. In order to examine constantly shifting objects of study, research on international politics must continually revise the theoretical and empirical frameworks and methodology employed. Moreover, both academic research in general and international politics studies in particular should go beyond mere analysis and offer normative guidance to policy makers. The challenges of such a multilevel field of research can only be met by an interdisciplinary approach, in which important insights from both political science and philosophy are applied to studies of topics ranging from armed conflicts, political and religious extremism, migration, identity issues, contested economic structures and regulations, and international law-making to humanitarian intervention and climate change. This book series consists of anthologies of works by philosophers and political scientists and experts from related subjects as well as monographs written by authors with the respective disciplines as a background. All texts submitted for publication in this series undergo a rigorous process of double-blind peer review, based on initial editor screening and anonymized refereeing by at least two referees. The editorial process is overseen by the editors and supported by two editorial assistants.

This series of publications explores issues arising at the point where the media and education overlap. Its individual volumes examine the forms the media can take and what it offers with a view to reflecting their relevance to socialisation, education and upbringing. The series welcomes contributions from a variety of fields written in different languages.

Philosophy thrives on debate, namely justified differences of opinion on assertions, views and theories. The argumentative nature of philosophy also characterises the idea behind this series of publications: it presents critical appraisals of important new studies from the field of philosophy and those related to it by renowned experts in direct discussion with their authors. A short introduction by the author opens each debate, which is then followed by the critics’ essays. Subsequently, the author responds in detail to the arguments put forward in the essays. The series is interdisciplinary and is not dedicated to any particular school of thought; the works published in it are chosen according to their originality and the relevance of their subjects.

In our times of globalisation, academic research is increasingly focusing on subjects such as migration and integration. Several thousands of people flee their home countries every day, many of whom feel forced to do so for economic reasons. Migrants and their descendants are now part and parcel of life in the countries that take them in, as many of them have settled permanently in their adopted homes. These immigrants will affect the future of these countries and also often of their countries of origin, among other things by participating in fields such as education, employment, sport and culture. The series of publications discusses all the issues relevant to research on migration and immigration and welcomes studies from all disciplines. Among other things, it is committed to publishing studies that endeavour to understand the causes and effects of migration and border demarcation better by using theoretical or empirical approaches, which are either quality or quantity-oriented. The series therefore contributes to an understanding and the promotion of the process of integration in all its possible dimensions. It considers migration and integration not only on an individual migrant level, but also from the point of view of relevant organisations and the state with its particular geographical, political, economic and cultural characteristics, a knowledge of which is necessary to be able to fully comprehend the global process of migration and integration. In this way, the series not only provides basic knowledge on migration and integration, but also offers guidance to decision makers in politics and society as well as to an interested public.

Analysing economic phenomena from a sociological perspective poses a number of transdisciplinary challenges which are both highly topical and relevant. This means that the complementary research fields of economic sociology and political economics are among the most dynamic areas of the social sciences in both theoretical and empirical terms. Economic sociology offers analytical perspectives on the logic of economic activity and the way it is embedded into social structures, which are arranged in a continuum of market relations, networks, organisational hierarchies and other coordinating bodies. Research papers from this field therefore deal with a vast array of subjects, ranging from entrepreneurship, innovation and organisation in the workplace to monetary economics and financial markets. Political economics complements and supplements economic sociology’s focus on action by taking institutional interaction between economic and political systems into consideration and by treating the state’s involvement in the organisation of economic processes as particularly significant. In this respect, the issue of variations in capitalist market economies in the context of globalisation assumes a central role. The series of publications entitled “Wirtschaftssoziologie und Politische Ökonomie” (Economic Sociology and Political Economics) therefore provides a forum for theoretical and empirical works from these research areas with no thematic restrictions.

Gesundheitsforschung. Interdisziplinäre Perspektiven (G.IP) is a series edited by Prof. Dr. Elisabeth André, Prof. Dr. Alexandra Manzei-Gorsky, and Prof. Dr. Claudia Traidl-Hoffmann in cooperation with the Center for Interdisciplinary Health Research (ZIG) at the University of Augsburg. The aim of the G.IP series is to take the demands of interdisciplinary research seriously and to make the latest findings from health research available across disciplines. The G.IP series publishes in two lines: First, the special issues examine current health topics from an interdisciplinary perspective and are edited by a specifically composed interdisciplinary team of experts. Second, special issues on specific questions of interdisciplinary health research are published regularly. This series publishes both monographs and anthologies written in German. This series is intended as a forum for a form of literary studies whose cultural studies expansion has been consolidated since the ›turns‹ in recent decades. The monographs and anthologies it publishes address the ›textures‹ which literature (and culture in general) is composed of: the literal materials and the media and cultural contexts that are inserted and interwoven into texts. These works and analyses are characterised by their openness towards incisive theoretical discussions in literary, media and cultural studies as well as their demands for innovative approaches.
