Positive and less positive experiences with the media, encounters with politicians and life as a researcher and university professor are the focus of the memoirs of the renowned political scientist Jürgen W. Falter. He analyses the ambivalent role of political experts in the media and the instrumental use that politicians make of experts they themselves have commissioned. The colourfully written memoirs also offer fascinating insights into the study of voter behaviour and the mass base of National Socialism, as well as the career and private life of a successful academic. The book concludes with a discussion of cancel culture, identity politics, cultural appropriation and wokeness.
