Summary

With a focus on neighborhood in its social and material dimensions the volume studies the interplay between social relations and technical reconstruction in post-war contexts, both after inter-state and civil war, without neglecting political actors and external players. It makes a compelling case for the importance of an interdisciplinary approach that not only addresses physical rebuilding but also acknowledges social networks which are vital for sustainable recovery and resilience in war-affected communities. Contributions from urban planning, architecture, social sciences and history provide actor-centered and trans-regional perspectives for post-conflict situations globally. Birgit Schäbler teaches history of West Asia transregionally. With contributions byAllam Alkazei | John Hanna | Mazen Haïdar | Piotr Korduba | Zoya Masoud | Kevin Mazur | Birgit Schäbler | Kai Vöckler
