Summary

Communication and normativity are fundamental and constitutive features of social work and have a specific relationship to each other, not least in view of the discussion about the existence of a typical 'social work language'. Sophia Heying examines the significance of both constructs for social work and, in this context, formulates theses on the theoretical relationship between normativity and communication. The interdependent relationship between discipline and practice in social work and a hermeneutic method of analysis are taken into account.
