The German history of the last century manifests itself in Martin Heidegger's writings more than in almost any other philosophy. Peter Trawny's critical introduction to Heidegger's thought is a presentation of the problematic nature of this philosophizing. At the same time, however, it attempts to grasp the extraordinary significance of this fascinating thinker in the context of 20th century philosophy and beyond. In the preface, Trawny provides clues as to the position of Heidegger's philosophy in current problem constellations.
