Summary
Tools of Musikvermittlung is an expert guide on concert experiences and participatory music projects for children, youth, families and new audiences. Written by Leonie Hentschel, a former singer with Nathaniel Dett Chorale and Education Programs Manager for Konzerthaus Berlin, it covers all aspects of programming, moderating and managing performances, collaborative processes and workshops. It also provides tools for developing one’s own artistic-pedagogical profile. With essential checklists, scripts, and sequence outlines, this hands-on guide features interviews with experts from 11 different perspectives, including artistic direction, conducting, education, deaf poetry, and contemporary music production. Leonie Hentschel, a music educator, was a singer in the Nathaniel Dett Chorale. She has designed and moderated numerous concert experiences, music education programs, and event formats at the Berlin Concert House, the Potsdam Chamber Academy, and the contemporary concert and opera organizer Soundstreams Canada in Toronto. In participatory workshops and in the collaborative creative process of music theater productions such as the community project "Stadtteil macht Oper!" she always focuses on the people working together. The format Die Orchestergesellschaft, within which she led the audience workshop, won the OPUS KLASSIK in the "Innovative Concert" category in 2024.
