Summary
This collective work, written by twelve authors, is the result of an international conference organised in Lausanne by the Jean Monnet Foundation for Europe in partnership with the Institute of History at the University of Hildesheim. The event, which brought together academic experts and high-level practitioners, revisited several key moments in the history of European integration since 1948. The resulting book focuses in particular on policymakers and their principal advisers, as well as the scope for manoeuvre available to them. This contribution presents a broad and original overview of the figures, often little known, who have worked towards the development of European integration.
