The places and spaces of childhood and youth are remembered and imagined in literary and media presentations. The current topographical studies open up new prospects for the spatial exploration of these childhood landscapes. The articles in this volume survey this basic research terrain, investigating child and adolescent spatial structures from literary, cultural studies, and interdisciplinary frames of reference. Jenny Erpenbeck and Peter Bichsel's literary approaches under discussion also allow new perspectives on topographies of childhood and adolescence.
