Summary

The narrative research report is discussing a project of the BürgerSozialGenossenschaft eG in Biberach, a medium-sized city in a rural area in Southwest Germany. The idea of the project is giving social support in relation to the resilient coping of the development challenges of vulnerable people in old age and their potentials of self management, self definition and normal participation in everyday life within the context of living in settings of private households. It is an successful example for civic engagement of self-organized cooperatives within the framework of public responsibility of the municipalities as the local/regional actor of the state as an welfare guarantor in questions of social services of general interest.
