Summary

In society's perception of health, dental procedures are of particular importance because oral health is highly valued by the population. Johannes Melcher therefore takes a closer look at the relationship between dentist and patient. With the help of ethnographic methods, he captures characteristic phenomena from the practice and examines them with regard to the different types of patients, the role of the dentist and the relationship. From a reciprocal readiness for dialogue and complementary interactions, the author develops the cultivated dentist-patient relationship, which gives the reader an evident view of the perception of this interaction.
