Zusammenfassung

Der Band beleuchtet aktuelle Machtumschichtungen im Indo-Pazifik und rückt dabei die Positionsadjustierungen der Staaten Ost- und Südostasiens in den Fokus. Jenseits der sichtbaren Prozesse untersuchen die Beiträge die Narrationen, durch die der Indo-Pazifik immer wieder neu konstruiert wird. Der Band thematisiert die Inselstreitigkeiten im Südchinesischen Meer am Beispiel der Philippinen und Vietnams und zeigt – illustriert durch die Spannungen zwischen Südkorea und Japan – wie historische Konflikte die Bündnisse der Gegenwart überschatten. Abschließend untersucht der Band, inwiefern sich im Bereich des Cyberspace Antagonismen oder aber neue Formen der Kooperation abzeichnen.
