Zusammenfassung

Auf der ganzen Welt sind populistische Kräfte auf dem Vormarsch oder bereits in der Regierungsverantwortung angekommen, was häufig mit polarisierter Politik und dem Abbau der Rechtstaatlichkeit einhergeht. Doch obwohl dies die Politik und die Wissenschaft seit Langem beschäftigt, ist dem Zusammenspiel von
Populismus und
Föderalismus bislang kaum Aufmerksamkeit geschenkt worden. Dieser englischsprachige Sammelband geht deshalb der Frage nach, ob der Föderalismus ein wirksames Bollwerk gegen populistische Kräfte bildet. Zugleich wird untersucht, wie populistische Kräfte in föderalen Systemen agieren und sich Mehrebenen-Dynamiken zunutze machen können. Die Beiträge liefern dazu Forschungsperspektiven und Einblicke aus verschiedenen Ländern.
