Zusammenfassung

Wer wählt in welchem Kontext strategisch? Dieses Buch systematisiert erstmals die gesamte international vergleichende Forschung zu den Determinanten strategischen Wählens bei Legislativwahlen. Eigene Analysen der CSES schließen die im Literaturbericht identifizierten Forschungslücken. Durch die systematische theoretische Herleitung aller Hypothesen, die bis dato umfangreichste Datenbasis und eine adäquate methodische Modellierung hebt sich die Untersuchung von der einschlägigen Literatur ab. Ein normativ bedeutsamer neuer Befund besteht in der verminderten Verbreitung strategischen Wählens in jungen Demokratien. Ursächlich für dessen Relevanz ist, dass ausbleibende taktische Voten dort zur Instabilität des demokratischen Systems beitragen.
