Zusammenfassung

Der Band ermöglicht einen Perspektivwechsel auf die Weltwahrnehmungen der Erzählstimmen und Figuren der vier Romane, aber auch der senegalesisch-stämmigen Autorinnen Mariama Bâ, Fatou Diome, Ken Bugul und Marie NDiaye selbst. Die literaturethnologische Methode der "ethnocritique" und eine möglichst afrozentrische Blickrichtung decken Fehlinterpretationen auf. Diese sind gängigen eurozentrierten Methoden der Textanalyse geschuldet, da sich kulturell geprägte Konzepte wie "jom", das aus der senegalesischen Gesellschaft stammt, mit herkömmlichen literaturwissenschaftlichen Methoden nur schwer ergründen lassen. Der Band versteht sich als beispielhaftes "close reading" im Sinne der Dekolonisierung der Wissenschaften.
