Zum Werk

Räumliche Aspekte des Wirtschaftens sind in den letzten Jahrzehnten immer wichtiger geworden. Daher hat sich das Gebiet der Ökonomischen Geographie als Teilbereich der Wirtschaftswissenschaften dynamisch entwickelt. Ursache für die Beschäftigung mit räumlich differenziert ablaufenden Wirtschaftprozessen sind oft regionale Wohlstandsunterschiede. Dementsprechend besteht ein Ziel der Ökonomischen Geographie darin, räumliche Entwicklungsunterschiede zu erklären und hieraus politische Handlungsmöglichkeiten abzuleiten.
