Zusammenfassung

Ist die Homophobie in der iranischen Gesellschaft ein Importgut aus dem Westen? In den heutigen wissenschaftlichen Beiträgen zur Sexualitätsgeschichte der vorderorientalischen Gesellschaften wird diese Frage häufig mit einem „Ja“ beantwortet, verbunden mit dem Hinweis auf die Verdrängung der lokalen Diskurse durch den westlichen Sexualitätsdiskurs während der imperialistisch-kolonialistischen Phase.

Die vorliegende Studie ist eine kritische Auseinandersetzung mit dieser Annahme. Auf der Basis einer historischen Untersuchung des Umgangs mit der mann-männlichen Begierde in Iran wird argumentiert, dass die lokale Wissensordnung weiterhin den Diskurs bezüglich der gleichgeschlechtlichen Begierde bestimmt und entsprechend für die ‚Homophobie‘ verantwortlich ist.
